Los Derechos De Una Victima on October 30

Alianza 614 and Justice for Migrant Women, the Columbus Metropolitan Library, and COWC are hosting Los Derechos De Una Victima on October 30 at the Hilltop Branch Library (511 S Hague Ave Columbus OH, 43204). The event will go from 5-8 pm and include presenters: CRIS: Lara Downing , Sanos: Karla Lebron, Ohio Crime Victims Justice Center: Odalys Fajardo.
In addition to presenters the event will include:
  • Rubén Castilla Herrera’s : The legacy of an Activist.
  • Information is power: Resources for our neighbors of the Westside
  • The Day of the Dead is coming: Tamales and hot chocolate for attendees.

Rural and migrant women are leaders in our country, essential workers in our communities, caregivers and decision-makers at home, and a powerful force at the ballot box. When we are in positions of power, we create policies that benefit women, children and the entire community. Our voices are critical!

 

We are inviting you to take part in Rural Women Lead, a multi-week leadership training program.  Meet fellow leaders from our community who are interested in becoming more civically engaged, and learn about the following:

 

  • How your personal experiences readies you for leadership 

  • How government works and why it matters in your life

  • Voting and how to mobilize others to vote

  • How to get appointed to a public board or commission

  • How to run for office
