COWC Board

The Central Ohio Worker Center Board is the decision-making body of the organization. COWC Board Meeting are held semi-monthly starting in February, and open to all members of the organization.

COWC Committee Structure

The main work of Central Ohio Worker Center happens in our three committees. Committees meet semi-monthly starting in January. Committee membership is open to all members of the organization, and committee participation by non-members is allowed with approval from the committee chairs.

Our committee structure was updated on August 15, 2017 to streamline our structure and focus on our mission to advocate with and for immigrants and workers living in Central Ohio. Each committee has the following essential characteristics: (1) each committee is composed of not less than two committee members, one of which must be a COWC board member; (2) each committee is chaired or co-chaired by a COWC board member or delegatee, which will be proposed by the committee, and approved by motion of the COWC board; (3) each committee will complete tasks as approved and assigned by the COWC board, provide regular reports to the board, and propose motions to advance COWC’s mission.

The Worker Justice Committee is responsible for advancing the worker rights mission of the organization by proposing projects, policy statements, and inter-organizational relationships to the board for approval, and for providing ongoing up-to-date information about opportunities for COWC. The Immigration Justice Committee is responsible for advancing the immigrant rights mission of the organization by proposing projects, policy statements, and inter-organizational relationships to the board for approval, and for providing ongoing up-to-date information about opportunities for COWC. The Governance and Development Committee is responsible for general organizational welfare, including board development, budgeting and finance, by- laws, staff relationships, and other business as assigned by the COWC board, and of which the Board President and Treasurer are mandatory members.

COWC Volunteer Leadership

The Central Ohio Worker Center relies on volunteer leaders to keep the organization running smoothly and effectively. Volunteer roles are ad hoc positions overseen by committees. Our current volunteer roles include: social media coordinator, and membership coordinator.
