Imagine fleeing the Congo with your 7-year old daughter out of fear of being killed for being Catholic. Then imagine that when you arrive in the United States, the ICE arrests you and sends you to facility in San Diego but keeps your daughter in a facility in Chicago. This is happening now. And it’s part of an experiment by the Department of Homeland Security to deter legitimate refugees from coming to the US by separating parents and children.
